Play of the Day!

Step into a world where fantasy meets reality like a slug from a 45.

NEITHER HERE NOIR THERE, a funny and engaging full-length play by Bambi Everson, takes audiences on a rollercoaster ride of laughs, friendship, and unexpected encounters with forces from the dark side, all within the confines of a cluttered yet charming New York City apartment.

We meet Michael Alexander, a recently divorced writer who finds himself at rock bottom—broke and grappling with depression. Seeking solace, he finds refuge at the apartment of his best friend, lifelong film buff Alice Martin. Encouraged by Alice, Michael embarks on the task of reworking a discarded film noir novel, hoping to find some semblance of purpose in his life.

However, Michael’s life takes a dark and unexpected turn when his femme fatale creation, Maxie Malone, suddenly materializes with her own malevolent agenda. As Maxie’s presence threatens to disrupt Michael and Alice’s bond, hilarious chaos ensues.

Blending the whimsical charm of Blithe Spirit with the hard-boiled patter of The Maltese Falcon, NEITHER HERE NOIR THERE also explores the power of self-acceptance, highlighting Michael’s journey towards finding validation within himself, rather than through romantic relationships.

NEITHER HERE NOIR THERE had a student production at Winthrop University, Rock Hill, SC, in 2016, and a full production at Manhattan Repertory Theatre, a sold out run in 2017.
