Play of the Day: MY FAIRE LADY

MY FAIRE LADYA widowed cinephile is pressured into returning to the dating scene, but finds himself facing a plot twist that even he could never have guessed. One act, approx. 12 minutes.
by Bambi Everson

Play of the Day presents MY FAIRE LADY, a 12 minute short set in a coffee shop somewhere in Anywhere, USA. The story revolves around three characters: Rod White, a widowed cinephile who is awkward and out of touch with the modern dating scene; Bob White, Rod’s pragmatic and loyal younger brother; and Eliza Higgins, an intelligent and confident woman with a surprising twist.

Rod, who hasn’t dated since 1984, is pushed back into the dating scene by his brother Bob. Bob, tired of his brother’s solitude and midnight calls about forgotten household appliances, sets up a date for Rod with Eliza. The date is filled with awkward moments, missteps, and a plot twist that Rod could never have guessed.

The play is a delightful exploration of acceptance, self-love, and the arbitrary nature of norms. It’s a reminder of how quickly we judge and categorize people based on their appearance. MY FAIRE LADY is a heartwarming story that will make you laugh, think, and perhaps look at the world a little differently.

Join us for this unique play that challenges societal norms and embraces individuality. Don’t miss out on this extraordinary tale of acceptance and love.

MY FAIRE LADY will be released in paperback later this year, as part of a collection of short plays. It is available for licensing directly from the author. Send us an email if you’d like to do a production.
