Play of the Day: FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE PARENTS

FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE PARENTSHaving worked out their issues, the future Mr. & Mrs. Frankenstein visit her mother’s house for help planning their wedding. One act, approx. 20 minutes.
by Bambi Everson

In a delightful twist on a classic tale, FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE PARENTS is a short play that takes us on an unexpected journey of love, acceptance, and second chances. The play is set in the present day, in a home on Staten Island, New York. The plot revolves around Marguerite Ernestine Castillo, formerly known as “The Bride of Frankenstein,” and her fiancé, Adam, formerly known as “The Creature” or “The Frankenstein Monster.”

The play begins with Marguerite and Adam visiting Marguerite’s Staten Island home, to meet her mother, Delores. Marguerite, who was brought back to life by Dr. Frankenstein, is now planning her wedding with Adam. The couple visits the understandably freaked-out Delores to ask for her help in planning their wedding, leading to a series of hilarious and heartwarming exchanges.

FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE PARENTS is a refreshing take on the Frankenstein story, focusing on the human aspects of the characters rather than their monstrous origins, exploring themes of love, acceptance, and the idea that everyone deserves a second chance, even those who are different or misunderstood. Or undead.

It is a charming and humorous play that will leave audiences both laughing and appreciating the deeper themes it explores. It’s a must-read for fans of unique takes on classic tales.

FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE PARENTS will be released in paperback later this year, as part of a collection of short plays. It is available for licensing directly from the author. Send us an email if you’d like to do a production.
