Play of the Day: SIGNAL PROBLEMS

SIGNAL PROBLEMSA chance encounter on the New York Subway. One act, approx. 17 minutes.
by Bambi Everson

SIGNAL PROBLEMS is a poignant short play that takes audiences on a journey through the unexpected twists of life.

Set in present-day New York City, we are introduced to James and Barbara, two strangers brought together by the random temporary shared confines of public transportation. As they engage in a candid and honest conversation, barriers dissolve, allowing for an unguarded, vulnerable quest for connection.

The script blends moments of raw emotion with touches of humor, creating a rich and relatable narrative, and capturing the profound effect that brief encounters can have on our lives. SIGNAL PROBLEMS explores themes of grief, preparation for loss, the inadequacy of societal condolences, and the surprising bonds that can form between strangers, even if only for a moment.

SIGNAL PROBLEMS will be released in paperback later this year, as part of a collection of short plays. It is available for licensing directly from the author. Send us an email if you’d like to do a production.
